“I am different but not less.”
Heya everyone! Let me quickly introduce myself: I live in Belgium with my husband Kevin and our dog Renza. I was born in 1992, and I have been diagnosed with Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder since 2015. I’m currently going through the entire process again of tests and hospital visits, in order to hopefully finally get the correct diagnosis, since I’m struggling with way more than “just hypermobility in my joints”. There’s gastroenterological issues, there are sudden drops in my blood pressure, my eye sight is getting worse… So we’re in the midst of trying to get all of that sorted.
My main issues with mobility at the moment are long periods of standing or walking. To everyone following this page to get updates on how to travel with limited mobility, I wanna emphasize that I can still walk small distances and transfer myself in and out of a wheelchair/scooter. It is mainly the pain and inflammation that is caused by longer periods of walking or standing, together with the risk of one of my joints subluxating/dislocating, that makes that I mostly travel in my wheelchair or with the help of a mobility scooter or crutches.
My goal on here is to create a little more awareness regarding traveling with mobility issues, because as hard as I look for it, I’ve noticed that most of the time finding good reviews of accessibility in places can be very hard. And if you’re anything like me, by which I mean an anxiety ridden person, those things only cause you more stress about going somewhere with the help of a mobility device.
Anyway, that being said, I think it’s important for me to share with all of you what exactly I want to create on here. I personally love going to concerts and festivals, and I love traveling. I like going to amusement parks and I love being creative. With this page I want to help people find useful reviews of certain concert venues, festival organization, accessibility on planes/buses/trains/metro… in different countries I’ve visited, as well as accessibility in museums and tourist attractions. And hopefully, I’ll be able to help some of you out with my little blogs and photos about the places and events I’ll visit.
If there’s ever anything I didn’t include in my posts and you plan on traveling/visiting, and you want to ask me more information about it, my dms on social media platform instagram @prm_travel are always open.
